Abhigyan Kundu scripted history on Tuesday, December, with a stupendous knock against Malaysia in the U19 Men's Asia Cup. At the Sevens Stadium in Dubai, the 17-year-old became only the second batter—and the first Indian—to score a double hundred in Youth ODIs. Earlier this year, South Africa's Jorich van Schalkwyk had become the first player to achieve the feat, and Kundu has now joined the elite list.
In the Group A clash, Kundu hammered a scintillating 209 off 125 balls, laced with 17 fours and nine sixes, as India posted a mammoth 408 for seven in their 50 overs. He also registered the highest individual score by an Indian batter in Youth ODIs, surpassing Ambati Rayudu's unbeaten 177 against England in Taunton in 2002.
